How often do visitors win?
Start with the ground
Visitors won none of the 33 New Zealand Tests at Eden Park in our window from 1 January 2010 to 20 October 2026. The home side won 32 and one was drawn. That is an extraordinary record within this selected set of six grounds.
The other grounds tell different stories. Visiting teams won one of 14 at Loftus Versfeld, 17 of 87 at the Aviva Stadium, 24 of 99 at Twickenham, eight of 25 at Suncorp Stadium and five of 14 at Ellis Park. The denominator belongs beside the percentage: one result changes a 14-match record far more than a 99-match record.
A venue is not a controlled experiment
Loftus and Ellis Park are both Springbok home grounds, yet their visiting records differ sharply. That does not establish that one pitch or altitude causes the difference. Opponent mix, eras, team strength and fixture selection all shape the sample.
These six venues are selected grounds across five host nations. They are not an exhaustive ranking of every Test stadium. Only Tests hosted there by the named national team are included. Neutral tournament matches and other teams using the same ground do not silently enter the count.
Two Eden Park records
The post-2010 comparison and the longer unbeaten run are different windows. Eden Park’s longer record reached 54 unbeaten All Blacks Tests after the 10 October 2026 match: 52 wins and two draws since the last defeat in 1994.
Keeping those windows apart avoids a misleading chart. Our six-ground comparison has 33 Eden Park Tests and one draw. The longer streak has 54 and two. Both can be correct, because they answer different questions.
