23 players named 15 October. One top-level club per player; 2026 or relevant 2025–26 overseas season.

A concentrated Australian core

Eleven of the 23 Wallabies named for the second Bledisloe Test are assigned to the Queensland Reds in this season-based comparison. Six are Brumbies, three Waratahs, two Western Force and one Ulster. The Reds account for just under half of the selected group.

The All Blacks span seven clubs: seven Hurricanes, six Chiefs, five Crusaders, two Highlanders and one each from the Blues, Toshiba Brave Lupus Tokyo and Leinster. These are counts of selected players, not a ranking of club development systems.

Choose one club, one season

Each player receives one top-level club assignment. Super Rugby Pacific uses the 2026 season; overseas assignments use the relevant 2025–26 season, including a sabbatical. Provincial rugby, junior clubs and future 2027 moves are not mixed into that field.

That distinction matters for players moving between competitions. A future return announcement does not rewrite the season being measured. Rieko Ioane’s Leinster assignment and Shannon Frizell’s Japanese club therefore remain visible in this edition’s footprint.

What a selection cannot tell us

A 23-player matchday selection is a snapshot. Injuries, rotation and tactical choices affect which clubs appear. These counts cannot establish how much value a club added, how many internationals it developed from youth, or whether a national selector favours it.

They do give a useful way into the match. Familiar combinations can be identified and then examined position by position. The match dossier places these club counts beside the Auckland-to-Sydney selection changes, keeping the named-team date attached to both.
